The short version

Her playbook tells us where our first users are. Hormozi tells us how much to do and how to know if it is working. We need both.

On its own, the manager's list is easy to start and easy to drop after one try, because nothing tells us whether it worked. On its own, Hormozi's book assumes a sales team and an ad budget we do not have yet. Put together, they give us a plan that is free to run, high in volume and measured every week.

01 · The sources

What each one actually says

HHormozi

$100M Leads (2023)

A volume-first system for getting strangers to show interest. There are only four ways to reach people, so pick one and do far more of it.

Warm outreach: message people who already know you
Free content: post value constantly, made for strangers
Cold outreach: message people who do not know you
Paid ads: rent attention, but only once you can track returns

Then add helpers (referrals, staff, agencies, affiliates) and follow one rule: do more, then do it better, then try somewhere new.

MMarketing manager

Meeting notes, for ELRQuiz and ELRQ

Five low-cost, relationship-led ideas. Let people interact and feel the value before we ask them for anything.

Interactive quizzes and polls on social media
Free tech support for university and student events
Friends, family and classmates sharing with people who need it
Asking lecturers and students what problem they face most
Micro-creators with 5,000 to 10,000 followers

Engage→Curiosity→Relationship→Value→Convert

02 · Common ground

Where they agree

The two sources come from very different places, a growth investor's book and a marketing manager's experience. Where they land on the same idea, we should treat it as settled.

Give value before you ask
HHormozi His rule is to "give until they ask", with far more free posts than sales posts.

MManager People should experience the value before we ask them to buy.
Start with people we already know
His warm outreach and her friends-and-family network are the same idea: our own contacts are the cheapest first audience, even if they are not students themselves.
Word of mouth beats spending
He gives referrals a whole chapter because each happy user can bring the next one for free. She wants a sharing network from day one.
Free first, paid later
He says give the first few users the product free to get practice, feedback and reviews. She says help events for free to earn trust before charging anyone.
Start from a real problem
His free offers start from one narrow problem the buyer has. She says ask lecturers and students what is going wrong before deciding what to promote.

03 · The differences

Where they part ways

The real split is method. Hormozi runs on volume and numbers. The manager runs on creativity and relationships.

Topic	Hormozi	Marketing manager
Core belief	Do the same few actions in huge volume until they work	Let people interact and experience value first
Daily effort	Rule of 100: 100 messages or 100 minutes of content a day, for 100 days	No daily target; ideas run as campaigns
Social media	Post often, write for strangers, hook them fast and pay off the promise	Quizzes, polls and story results people take part in
Offline	Barely covered	Central: universities, student groups, lecturers
Influencers	Not a focus; build your own audience and recruit affiliates instead	Central: small creators with engaged, niche audiences
Paid ads	A full channel, but last in line and only with tracking in place	Not mentioned
Measurement	Strict: reply rates, cost per customer, one test a week	Light: judge creators by relevance and engagement
Strength	Says how much to do and how to tell if it worked	Says where our users actually spend their time
Weak spot	Built for businesses with money and a sales team; some tactics are too heavy for us today	Easy to try once and quietly drop; no scoreboard

The one real conflict

She suggests paying micro-creators early. Hormozi puts anything paid at the back of the queue, after the free channels work and every sign-up can be traced to its source.

Our call: test two or three creators with a small, fixed budget in week 4, each with their own tracking link. If they do not beat our free channels on cost per user, we stop.

04 · Applied to ELRQuiz

Her ideas, run the Hormozi way

Every one of her five ideas fits inside one of his four methods. That matters, because his method tells us how to count each one.

Her idea	His method	What we do for ELRQuiz
Friends and family	Warm outreach	Message our contacts every day and ask who they know preparing for MBBS exams. Ask for a direct introduction, not just a share.
Lecturers and students	Warm outreach + free offer	Interview five people in week 1. Build one free tool around the problem they name most, such as revision tracking or viva prep.
Interactive quizzes	Free content	Daily quiz posts and stories, like "Test your pharmacology in 5 questions", ending with a result and a link to try ELRQuiz.
University events	Outreach to groups	Offer student societies free registration or QR check-in for one event. In return, ask for a stand, a five-minute slot or a share in their group chat.
Micro-creators	Paid, small scale	Two or three medical-study creators, fixed fee, one tracking link each. Judge them on sign-ups, not views.

Two things her list is missing

A free taster with a clear next step. Hormozi's "lead magnet" is a small free thing that fully solves one narrow problem and shows the bigger one we fix. For us: a 10-question quiz that diagnoses a student's weakest topic, then points them to the full question bank. It doubles as her quiz idea.
Referrals built into sign-up. Ask for the share at the moment a student joins, when they are most excited. Reward both sides with something real, such as an extra question pack or a free premium week.

05 · The plan

The first 30 days

One audience (MBBS students), one hook (the free weak-topic quiz), free channels first, numbers checked every Monday.

Week 1 · Set up and ask
Build the hook
- Ship the free quiz and its result page
- Tag every sign-up with its source
- Start 100 warm messages a day
- Book five lecturer or student interviews
Week 2 · Post and test
Show up daily
- One quiz post or short every day
- Write each post for someone who has never heard of us
- Test one change this week, starting with the headline
- Follow up every unanswered message twice
Week 3 · Go where students are
Campus and chats
- Pitch two or three student societies a free event tool
- Share the quiz in student WhatsApp and Telegram groups
- Keep the daily posts going
Week 4 · Small paid test
Creators and referrals
- Two or three micro-creators, fixed fee, own links
- Add the referral ask to sign-up
- Review the numbers and drop what did not work

House rules, from the book

Keep free posts well ahead of promotional ones, at least three to one.
Talk from experience: "how I revised cardiology" lands better than "how you should revise".
Do not judge a channel until it has had real volume. One week of light effort proves nothing.

06 · The scoreboard

What to count

This is where the book earns its place. His rough numbers for warm outreach give us a target to beat. They come from his own businesses, so treat them as a first guess.

Per 100 warm messages, using Hormozi's benchmark of about 1 in 5 at each early step. Bars drawn to scale.

Number	Target to start with	How often we check
Warm messages sent	100 a day	Daily
Reply rate	About 20%	Weekly
Quiz starts per 100 messages	About 4	Weekly
Follower and reach growth	Monthly growth rate, not just the total	Monthly
Biggest drop-off step	Fix this one first; one test a week	Weekly
Lifetime profit per user vs cost to get them	At least 3 to 1	Once we know our price

07 · Before we start

Open questions for the team

What does ELRQuiz cost, and how long do users stay?Without these two numbers we cannot say what a user is worth, so we cannot set a budget for creators or ads.
Who owns the daily 100?Outreach only works if one named person does it every day.
Which universities do we approach first? We need a short list of three student societies for week 3.
